Get to know Angela: Originally from Washington, D.C., Angela Althoff moved to Hilton Head Island in 1994. "My husband and I first came here in 1990. We fell in love with it and bought a home the first week that we were here," she said. "At that time we were living in Colorado and divided our time between both places. In 1994 we decided to put down roots on the island and sold our home in Colorado. I love being in the Hilton Head area and am thrilled every time I see the ocean. It seems to me that people smile most of the time they are on our beautiful island and that makes me smile back."

Real estate philosophy: Angela specializes in homes and villas on Hilton Head Island and in the developing areas in Bluffton. "I love working with people, helping them focus on what sort of area they would enjoy, based on their interests and then assisting them in finding the property that most suits their needs."

Real estate experience: Licensed to sell real estate in Washington, D.C. in 1972, Angela moved to Des Moines, Iowa and became a broker. She later moved to Gallup, New Mexico, where she organized the real estate community and served as the first chairman of the MLS. She has been a sales agent with Dunes Marketing Group since 2004. Angela has been awarded all Graduate Realtors Degrees and a Council of Residential Specialist certificate in Advanced Selling Techniques for the Recreation & Resort Specialist.

Other professional background: Angela served as a director and trustee of a large real estate trust comprised of commercial properties in Washington DC and Florida.

Community service: In addition to her active real estate career, Angela serves her community as a member of Women in Philanthropy, the Community Foundation of the Low Country and the Palmetto Dunes Women's Association. She also serves as a board member for the Leamington Association and volunteers for the Hilton Head Hospital, Literacy Volunteers and other local organizations.

Family: Nine children; 18 grandchildren
