Get to know Doug: Originally from Allenstown, PA, Doug Eck was led to Hilton Head Island by his father, who brought him here for a golf outing more than 29 years ago. It was love at first sight for Doug, who vowed to retire here some day. Vacationing here every year, he could wait no longer, moving to the Lowcountry in 1997.
Real estate philosophy: Doug chose a career in real estate because he has always loved Hilton Head Island. "I want to help people get a piece of paradise like I did," he said. Doug's philosophy in dealing with clients: "Give them the same advice you would a family member or your best friend."
Business and real estate experience: In 1990, Doug started his own company, Fastech Technology, manufacturing a patented telecommunications product. He also owned and operated Stevens Temporary Employment Agency for lawyers, paralegals and nurses. Both businesses were service-oriented making real estate an easy transition.
Hobbies and interests: Doug enjoys many of the activities to be found around Hilton Head Island: golf, tennis, racquetball, etc. But his real passion is sailing. He and his wife, Jane, recently returned from a 14-month sailing trip from Hilton Head Island to Australia, across the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans and four seas-the Coral, Tasmin, Fijian and Caribbean, for a total of 18,000 miles!
